The analysis happens in your browser. Your files, names and sizes never leave your computer.
What we do with your folders
When you pick a folder, your browser lets this page read the list of files, sizes and dates and, if you ask to find duplicates, the contents of files that share a size. All of it is processed in your tab's memory. Nothing is sent to any server: no files, names, sizes or fingerprints. The code has nowhere to send them.
The page asks for read-only access and never deletes, moves or changes files. When you close or reload the tab, the result is gone. We do not store what you analyse, not even in the browser: we only remember your unit preference (decimal or binary).
Visit statistics
We load Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics only if you accept in the banner. They measure anonymous page visits (how many people, which country, which pages). They never record what you analyse. If you decline, the page makes no third-party request. You can verify it in your browser's developer tools, Network tab.
Check it yourself
Open developer tools (F12), go to the Network tab, pick a folder and watch: no new request appears. You can even switch off the internet before analysing.
Browser limits
Direct folder reading (File System Access API) only exists in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and other Chromium-based browsers. In Firefox and Safari we use the fallback of dropping or choosing a folder, which works but is a bit slower and may show an "upload"-style warning. On phones most browsers cannot pick folders. Folders with hundreds of thousands of files can exhaust the tab's memory.
